Baryulgil
Baryulgil, in northern New South Wales, is the site of an asbestos mine operated by a James Hardie subsidiary company, Asbestos Mines, from 1944 to 1976.
The Baryulgil Aboriginal community lived close to the mine and provided its workforce.
The community has been decimated by asbestos disease, as a consequence of exposure to lethal dust during the lifespan of the mine.
